The best running plan apps for iPhone (2026)
A running plan app should do three things: build a plan that fits your level and your week, put each run on your wrist, and change the plan when your life or your body does. Here is how Keho, Runna, Nike Run Club and Garmin Coach handle that on iPhone, with facts about the other apps taken from their makers’ websites and App Store pages on 29 October 2026.
Short answer
Keho is the pick if you want a plan that adapts to your sleep, HRV and training load, works with an Apple Watch or any watch that saves to Apple Health, and needs no account. Its plans cover running from a first 5K to a marathon, plus cycling and yoga, for $24.99 a year, or a single running plan from $3.99. Runna, Nike Run Club and Garmin Coach each take a different route, described below.

Keho
Keho builds running plans for a first 5K or 10K (walk-run), a 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon race, and a rolling plan with no end date. You choose your level, 1–7 running days and your long-run day; Keho sets paces from a recent race in Apple Health, its VO2max estimate or heart rate, and sends the next seven days of runs to your Apple Watch with pace and heart-rate alerts.
What sets it apart is the morning check. Keho computes a readiness score from your sleep, HRV, resting heart rate and training load, and when several mornings point the same way, or load climbs too fast, it offers easier options, always including “Keep as planned”. The same subscription covers cycling plans for sportives, gran fondos, gravel events and a first 100 km, and yoga practices for home. Everything is computed on your iPhone, with no account. Keho Coach is $24.99 a year; single running plans are $3.99 (5K, 10K, first 5K or 10K), $6.99 (half marathon) or $8.99 (marathon), and week 1 of every plan is readable before you buy.
Runna
Runna, now owned by Strava, offers race and distance plans that, in its own words, adjust to your pace and schedule, and lets you add strength training to a run plan. It has an Apple Watch app and can send scheduled workouts to the watch. Runna lists $19.99 a month or $119.99 a year in the US, and a Strava and Runna bundle at $149.99 a year. Strava’s own running plans are now powered by Runna.
Nike Run Club
Nike Run Club is free with a Nike Member account and includes guided runs and a set of running plans, from a short “Get Started” plan to a half marathon. It records runs on iPhone and Apple Watch and shares workouts with Apple Health.
Garmin Coach
Garmin Coach is free in the Garmin Connect app and needs a compatible Garmin watch for running plans. Garmin says its Run Coach adjusts to your performance, recovery and health metrics. Garmin also offers cycling plans, with the adaptive Cycling Coach working best with a Garmin Edge, a heart-rate monitor or watch and a power meter. Garmin Connect+ is an optional subscription on top.
How to choose
- You wear an Apple Watch and want the plan to respond to how you slept and recovered: a plan that reads Apple Health is the natural fit.
- You train more than one sport: check whether cycling or yoga plans come in the same subscription, or need a second app.
- You care where your data lives: look at whether the app needs an account and where it computes your plan.
- You are just starting: a walk-run plan to your first 5K matters more than any feature list. See our 5K training plan.
