Runna alternative: a running plan that reads your recovery

Updated · 4 min read

Runna is one of the best-known running plan apps. If you are looking for an alternative, it is usually for one of three reasons: the price, a plan that should respond to how you slept and recovered, or other sports in the same app. Here is how Keho handles each, with facts about Runna taken from Runna’s own website and support pages on 29 October 2026.

Short answer

Keho builds running plans from a first 5K to a marathon that adapt to your sleep, HRV, resting heart rate and training load, put each run on your Apple Watch, and need no account. Keho Coach costs $24.99 a year and includes cycling and yoga plans; a single running plan costs from $3.99. Runna lists $119.99 a year or $19.99 a month in the US.

A plan that reads your recovery

Runna describes its plans as adjusting to your pace and schedule. Keho adds a second input: your body. Each morning it reads your sleep, HRV, resting heart rate and training load from Apple Health and turns them into a readiness score. When several low mornings come with HRV below your usual or resting heart rate above it, when load climbs too fast, or when you have missed several sessions, Keho offers options that only reduce load, such as an easier run or a moved session, and always “Keep as planned”. Tell it you are feeling unwell, have a niggle or are travelling, and the week adjusts right away, then ramps back.

Price

Keho Coach is $24.99 a year and covers every running, cycling and yoga plan. If you only have one race in mind, buy that plan on its own: $3.99 for a 5K, 10K or a first 5K or 10K, $6.99 for a half marathon, $8.99 for a marathon. It adapts until race day and stays readable afterwards. Week 1 of every plan is readable before you pay. Runna lists $19.99 a month or $119.99 a year in the US, and a Strava and Runna bundle at $149.99 a year.

More than running

The same Keho Coach subscription plans cycling (a sportive, gran fondo or gravel event, a first 50 or 100 km, or year-round fitness, with targets in watts or heart rate) and yoga practices for home, as a plan of their own or placed around your runs. Runna lets you add strength training to a run plan.

Your data stays on your iPhone

Keho has no account and no server holding your health data. Your plan is built on your iPhone from what is already in Apple Health, which is why it works with an Apple Watch, a Garmin, a Polar or any other watch that saves workouts there.

Switching from Runna

  1. Install Keho and allow it to read Apple Health. Your past runs, from any watch that saves to Health, are there already.
  2. Choose your race and date, your level, running days and long-run day. Keho sets paces from a recent race or personal best it finds.
  3. Read week 1, then choose Keho Coach or the single plan for your race.
